Hello, I’m Hope – one of the recent additions to the Innovation Visual team. I’ve nearly completed two months here already and have kindly been given the opportunity to write a bit about my background and first impressions of the team.
I’m extremely grateful to have not only have been given the opportunity to continue my marketing journey at Innovation Visual during these unprecedented times but to be a part of a team who have all been so welcoming and supportive during the short amount of time, it really has made starting a new job remotely much easier.
My Background
Over the past three years, I’ve worked as a Social Media & Digital Marketing Executive for an online party supplies retailer. It was there that I discovered my true passion for digital marketing and was able to develop my skills even further as the business grew. The role I had was heavily involved in a variety of digital marketing tasks such as growing the brand’s presence across social platforms, working on exciting new content, organising events and continually working on developing the website from a UX perspective.
My knowledge and skills in digital marketing have progressed over the last few years but I was ready to develop my career in marketing even further. I have been incredibly lucky that Innovation Visual recognised my drive for marketing and have allowed me this opportunity to develop within their team.
Starting a New Job in a Pandemic
As with the many uncertainties in 2020, I was a little nervous about starting a new job during a pandemic when remote working is very much the ‘new normal’ and lockdown 2.0 was fast approaching. However, I needn’t have worried, Tim & the rest of the team made my first week really straight forward and with all their support they really put the time and effort into my onboarding to make me feel like a member of the team from day one.
The company provided me with all the equipment I would need to get started and were more than happy to provide anything else I may have needed to make my at-home working environment as efficient and comfortable as possible.
Over the course of my first month, I was introduced to exciting new tasks, the opportunity to meet existing clients, and plenty of time for training and meeting the team. I feel I have learnt so much already and I’m sure this will only continue. They had kindly arranged ‘Get to Know’ sessions with each member of the team on a one-to-one basis (remotely of course) to ensure I didn’t miss out on the crucial time spent getting to know everyone as you usually would in the office. This really gave me the opportunity to get to know each member of the team on a professional and personal level and it was these sessions that made the onboarding so smooth. On top of this, I quickly got stuck into Google Ads, content writing for various clients, understanding the HubSpot platform a little more and have been able to gain multiple certifications across these platforms already!
Starting a new job is always a little daunting, but starting a job remotely is completely new territory. However, I’m extremely grateful to Innovation Visual for taking the time to welcome me into the company in such a helpful, supportive manner. I even have regular fortnightly one-to-ones, like everyone else, to make sure we are doing ok, it's a really caring environment.
What’s Next?
I’m looking forward to 2021 (as I’m sure we all are) and continuing my journey with Innovation Visual as they continue to thrive within the digital marketing industry. My main focus is to continue developing my skills and to become more involved in all aspects of digital marketing across a variety of clients.
The company are really passionate about training and development which is one of the main reasons Innovation Visual stood out to me. With time set aside each month for training, you have the opportunity to progress and work towards becoming certified in a variety of digital marketing qualifications.
I’m looking forward to getting more involved with new and existing clients in 2021 and I’m ready to see what exciting things are to come over the next year for Innovation Visual and the whole team!
