Sustainability Isn’t a Nice-To-Have. It’s Essential.
Doing business well means doing right by people and the planet.
At Innovation Visual, we believe businesses should be a force for good and that means operating in a way that respects and protects our environment. From the very beginning, sustainability has been woven into the fabric of who we are. We're proud to be a business designed with both people and planet in mind and are always looking for ways to minimise our environmental impact, support vital conservation work, and build a more sustainable future.
We’ve proudly been members of 1% for the Planet since 2012. That means we donate at least 1% of our annual turnover - not just profits - to environmental causes that protect nature, conserve wildlife, and fight climate change.
Since joining, we've donated over £82,000 to carefully selected organisations doing extraordinary work across the globe.
Here are just some of the charities and initiatives we support through our donations:
A long-time favourite of our founder Joanna, DSWF funds key anti-poaching and conservation projects across Africa and Asia. They protect critically endangered mammals like pangolins, painted dogs, snow leopards, and rhinos.
Based in Greece, this incredible charity works to conserve sea turtles and their habitats throughout the Mediterranean. We also support them through purchasing client gifts from their shop - an extra way to back their mission.
The ARC Trust works to preserve the UK’s native reptile and amphibian species, and we’ve been proud corporate supporters for years. Their education and advocacy help protect some of the UK’s most elusive and vulnerable wildlife.
Formed by passionate local conservationists, this charity protects a stunning piece of land on the Gloucestershire border, rich in rare plants and geological importance. We're honoured to support their grassroots conservation work.
COTAP tackles two of the world’s biggest challenges - climate change and global poverty - through one powerful solution: offsetting. Our donations fund verified climate projects that create carbon reductions and improve economic outcomes for vulnerable communities.
We go beyond just offsetting. Our entire workforce is climate-positive through our partnership with Ecologi. Each month, we fund global reforestation and carbon reduction projects that more than offset the personal and professional emissions of our whole team.
Because we operate as a remote-first business, we already significantly reduce commuting emissions. But we take it further:
We encourage public transport and car sharing when travel is necessary.
Office energy use is optimised, with smart heating and cooling practices to reduce our carbon output.
Recyclable, plastic-free office supplies are the default, and we actively avoid unnecessary purchases or wasteful packaging.
We publish carbon footprint reports every six months, sharing what we’ve done and where we’re going next.
Sustainability at Innovation Visual isn’t just about donations or carbon reporting. It’s about embedding better practices into how we live and work.
Here are just some of the ways our team is turning intentions into impact:
At our company, we've embraced remote work as a core part of our identity and environmental commitment. Even before the pandemic, we offered flexible working options to accommodate our internationally distributed team. What began as a practical solution has evolved into a deliberate, environmentally-conscious policy.
We've intentionally downsized our Surrey office, encouraging team members to work from wherever they're most productive. This approach has allowed our talented staff to work from diverse locations—from the rolling hills of Wales to the beautiful landscapes of South Africa!
By reducing daily commutes and maintaining a smaller physical footprint, we're proud that our remote-first policy actively contributes to reducing our carbon footprint while supporting our team's work-life balance.
We’ve improved recycling in the office with clearly labelled bins for food, paper, plastics, and metals. Small, liner-free bins encourage mindful disposal, and food waste is collected in compostable bins and taken home weekly by team volunteers.
Each team member receives a branded reusable metal water bottle - no single-use plastic bottles allowed. They’re dishwasher-safe, office-ready, and a small but effective symbol of our shared commitment.
One day a week, we challenge ourselves to go meat-free as a team. It’s a fun and easy way to reduce our collective environmental impact and raise awareness of the footprint behind our food choices.
From using glass milk bottles to scheduling deliveries in ‘green’ time slots, we’re rethinking our supply chain choices:
Can it be recycled or reused?
Can we buy it locally or in bulk?
Is it actually necessary?
Every decision is a chance to make a better one.
We monitor heating and cooling systems closely and promote:
Using timers for heating
Closing blinds to retain warmth
Turning off radiators before using AC
Relocating team members to suit temperature preferences
USB desk fans over building-wide cooling
While our primary donations go to environmental causes, we also extend support to humanitarian efforts aligned with our values:
Provides essentials, free of charge, to Ukrainian refugees, from nappies to winter coats. We sent clothing and supplies to their mission.
Supports migrants and refugees in Poland with integration support, educational development, and a commitment to dignity and equality.
Cares for animals left behind in crisis particularly pets displaced by the war in Ukraine. Their work is vital, and we’re honoured to contribute.
“The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it.”
– Robert Swan
