Hi, my name is Bee and I recently graduated from Oxford Brookes University with a degree in Philosophy and Psychology. I am now looking to find a full time role in either Marketing or Advertising, and I was very happy when I was offered the chance to learn more about the Digital Marketing world and spend the last week at the Innovation Visual offices gaining experience in this exciting industry sector. In just one week I have already learned so much at Innovation Visual, including learning about optimising content and the importance of producing high quality content to improve a website’s ability to rank in search engines such as Google or Bing

My interest in advertising and marketing started from a young age, as I have alwayDigital Marketing Intern Bees been fascinated with people and understanding the way they work. Having studied Psychology I gained an insight into people and their personas, which I feel has massively contributed to my preferred choice of career and assisted me during my work experience with the Innovation Visual team.

Content Creation

During my time at Innovation Visual I was given the opportunity to be a part of a large scale content creation project and was tasked with writing a number of content pages for a website. I feel this project taught me so much, particularly about the importance of a websites content. I learnt that writing good content that is optimised for specific keywords will help a website to rank well in search engines and therefore be found by searchers. Prior to working at Innovation Visual I don't think I had fully appreciated the work and effort that goes into making a website rank at the top of the search results.

The team took the time to explain more to me about search engine optimisation and how if a website fails to rank on the first page of Google and Bing, then that website loses not only visibility to potential customers, but also traffic to the site, which can lead to reduced sales.

It was also fascinating to learn more about how website content is managed in the backend of a website. One of the tasks I worked on included reformatting a number of current website pages into a new design, which involved me working with a content management system (CMS) called WordPress. When the team told me that around 30% of websites are powered by WordPress, I realised that having an understanding of this CMS was certainly a good thing!

Google AdWords Exam

In addition to gaining valuable experience working on projects, I was also given the opportunity at Innovation Visual to take my AdWords Fundamentals exam. At the beginning I found this challenging and difficult with a lot of new information to take in. However, with the help of everyone in the team, I was soon able to get to grips with it all and I'm pleased to say I passed the test!

Thank You to Innovation Visual!

I want to take this opportunity to thank the team at Innovation Visual for being so welcoming and always helping me with any questions I had. The experience I gained was invaluable and I learnt more than I could have ever hoped to!
